We are always proud of the fact that our bumper feet are manufactured in the USA.  The Fourth of July is right around the corner; all you need is a hot dog, a cold drink, and a nice body of water to bronze yourself next to. While you’re enjoying your picnic this year, take a moment to notice the rubber bumper pads around the party. (Because they are definitely more exciting than fireworks!)

On your quest looking for our products, you may find them being used to protect your barbecue, which is one of our many outdoor bumpon applications. Collapsible shelves and doors on the grill are equipped with rubber bumpons for sound dampening and vibration resistance. After all, you want the party to be loud, not the slamming of the grill. On your next vacation, as you settle into your hotel suite and acquaint yourself with the mini bar snacks, take a peek around the room. Can you spot the bumper feet? Look behind the door; the rubber stop protecting the handle from hitting the wall – that’s us. Lift up the telephone and look on the bottom, those bumper feet grip the tabletop so the phone doesn’t slide off. The safe where you’re keeping your passport and jewelry also has bumper feet on the bottom. The desk with the glass top has rubber spacers between the wood and the glass to protect the veneer of the wood. The picture frames use bumper feet to stay level and protect the wall from scratches. The acrylic display announcing the HBO movies and room service menu has bumper feet, check them out while you order overpriced mac & cheese. Bumper feet allow for the perfect placement of objects all around the hotel room including phones, soap trays, safes, iPod docks, and pictures frames.

Rubber Bumper Spacers

You may think that Bumper Specialties rubber feet are only good for dampening sounds on slammingcabinets, or minimizing vibration on speaker systems, or for non-skid cuttingboards, but our rubber bumpers can do so much more!  These versatile bumper products explore many fields and uses.  One application we would like to spotlight today is self adhesive bumpers used as rubber spacers. 

PCB Spacers

Rubber spacers are utilized on computers, routers, and stack-able network devices.  A fragile printed circuit board (or PCB) sits inside these devices.  Sometimes multiple PCB stack adjacently in a single device.  If they touch they can scratch, break, and cause computer damage.  What is a very simple solution to prevent them from touching?  Stick our rubber spacers on a PCB!

 Vinyl, nylon, or polyurethane spacers work best for this job.  Our bumper spacers function well because they are insulators, therefore they do not conduct electricity.  Ideally, spacers need to have a flat top to support the PCB.  In this application, our cylindrical self adhesive bumpers work best.

An alternative to bumper spacers is plastic screws; however, they take a lot more effort to apply.  All of our bumper spacers are backed with an aggressive adhesive, so they stick on immediately.  Plastic screws take up more space than rubber spacers because they require a hole drilled into the PCB. 

Glass Spacers

You can also find our rubber spacers used to stabilize glass.  For example, glass shelving and tables use our rubber spacers to keep the glass in place and help protect both the glass and the surface underneath. 

Substitutes for rubber spacers in this application can be cork, felt, tape, or foam.  Despite these other options, Bumper Specialties rubber spacers work most efficiently.  They grip the glass, can hold the weight of the glass without wearing out or flattening, and are transparent.

Rubber spacers are also used on windows because they effectively dampen vibrating and rattling from the window.  Rubber bumper spacers make windows sturdier when they are shut because they hold everything tightly in place.
